CHICAGO, IL (November 26, 2009) – Offices of the Evangelical Covenant Church are closed today in observance of the thanksgiving holiday, which means Covenant News Service is observing a day of rest and time with family as well.

Although offices remain closed tomorrow (Friday), the regular online news report will resume.

One of tomorrow’s featured stories takes a look at what one Washington congregation did in response to the plight of the homeless in its area, focusing on the challenges facing women who are in transition from prison, alcohol or drug abuse, or poverty.

Another article looks at the work of one Covenanter in China and the way he has developed relationships with students at the prestigious Peking University and the impact that has had not only on his own life, but the lives of the students as well.

This holiday provides the perfect opportunity for reflection – to ponder the many ways in which God has blessed and provided for our needs.

We wish everyone a blessed thanksgiving as we look past the discouraging news headlines of the day and reflect on the many ways in which God has provided for us.
