SCAMMON BAY, AK (September 18, 2009) – The Evangelical Covenant Church of Alaska (ECCAK) has set up a fund to help a family who lost all of their possessions in a fire earlier this year.

Namman and Mary Kaganak’s family home was destroyed, says Rodney Sawyer, regional field director.

A team from the North Pacific Conference had arrived earlier in the day to help with a construction project in the Alaska Bush village. They formed a bucket brigade, but it was not enough to battle the blaze.

The family has been living in a small apartment since the fire. Individuals interested in donating to the special assistance fund should send checks, made payable to the ECCAK, to ECCAK, P.O Box 770749, Eagle River, AK, 99577. For more information, call 907-694-6348.
