CHICAGO, IL (September 16, 2009) – In a matter of weeks, the North Park men’s soccer team has gone from being unranked to one of the country’s Top 10 teams, as determined by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).

In the poll released Tuesday, the Vikings leaped to No. 8 after reaching No. 23 last week. They were unranked in the preseason poll.

North Park (5-0) also debuted at No. 19 in the initial D3Soccer.com national poll, which was released today. A panel of 25 coaches, sports information directors, and media members from across the country make the selections.

The Vikings are the only undefeated team in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) and the conference’s sole representative in either poll. They have outscored their opponents 13-4.

The poll numbers were not the only good news received by the Vikings today. The CCIW named forward Kris Grahn its Player of the Week.

The Vikings will take on Edgewood College at 7 p.m. tonight in Madison, Wisconsin.
