WILLOUGHBY HILL, OH (August 26, 2009) – First Covenant Church celebrated its 120th anniversary on Sunday.

One hundred people attended the event, including Great Lakes Conference Superintendent Dick Lucco and Bethany Covenant Church Pastor Greg Applequist. Don Davenport, who serves with the Department of Church Growth and Evangelism, preached.

Andrea Anelli, a church member and singer with the opera Per Tutti, performed as did a pianist from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

Although the church has an average attendance of around 40 people, “We have a very high-quality music program,” notes Pastor William Nyerges.

The congregation produced a commemorative booklet and DVD that highlight the church’s history and current ministry. Members also shared reflections during a dinner program on ways in which the church’s ministry has touched their lives.

The church developed its theme based on Hebrews 10:23 – “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
