VILLA PARK, IL (June 4, 2009) – Neighbors around Villa Park Covenant Church were glad that the youth group didn’t worship at church recently.

“We gathered for songs and prayer and then broke up into small groups to do servant evangelism,” says Beth Hill, director of Christian education and youth. “Instead of a worship service, we worshiped through service.”

That included doing yard work for free. One woman who benefited from the labor wrote the group to express her gratitude, saying, “I will never forget it. The day was like a miracle to me.”

The youth group also packed lunches for Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS), which seeks to wipe out homelessness in DuPage County. As part of their program, PADS uses local churches to provide temporary shelter.
