Snodgrass is the Paul W. Brandel Professor of New Testament Studies at North Park Theological Seminary. He has taught at the school since 1974.
“This is a superb culmination of career-long reflection on one of the most important genres in biblical literature,” the contest judges write. “Readers will be deeply impressed by Snodgrass’s exposition, his command of the relevant scholarship in the field, and the lucid quality of his analysis.”
The book covers all of Jesus’ 35 parables and runs more than 800 pages, nearly 200 of which are endnotes. “I didn’t want it to be this long,” Snodgrass said last year in a Covenant News Service online article. “It took way longer than I thought. The process takes on its own life.”
Snodgrass will lead Bible studies next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the Midwinter Pastors Conference in Chicago.
