BIRMINGHAM, AL (January 20, 2009) – The famed West (Kelly Ingram) Park, located near the 16th Street Baptist Church, is known for its graphic and moving sculptures depicting the trauma of May 1963 when Birmingham police and firefighters attacked civil rights demonstrators, many of them children, in the streets bordering the park, using fire hoses and attack dogs.
