BROOKLYN PARK, MN (November 2, 2007) – The growing African immigrant community at Redeemer Covenant Church wanted to share some of their worship and foods, so the congregation recently held its first annual Taste of Africa event.

The worship service was attended by 225 people and included several guest artists and a combined African joint choir that filled the sanctuary stage. Following the service, members dined on food from Nigeria, Liberia and Congo that was prepared by the African women. Most of the immigrants in the church come from the three countries.

One of the Liberian immigrants expressed gratitude for the church’s outreach saying, “I finally feel like I’m home.”

Kenny Oyederu, a Nigerian immigrant, and Jim Page, chairman of the Community Ministry Team, co-chaired the event.
