Seminary Seeks Applicants for World Mission Teaching Position

CHICAGO, IL (October 30, 2007) – Applications are being accepted for a somewhat unique teaching position at North Park Theological Seminary, focusing in the area of world mission.

The position, which will be available in the fall of 2008, is a full-time or tenure track position teaching in areas of world mission and cultural analysis as part of the seminary’s Master of Divinity and Master of Arts programs.

Responsibilities include teaching and/or team teaching three or four core and elective courses in the seminary’s masters-level programs such as: Church and World, Introduction to Missions, Mission Strategy and Methodology, Cultural Dimensions of Missions, and travel courses.

The position also involves responsibilities with the Evangelical Covenant Church Department of World Mission, including: service on the World Mission Committee of the denomination, training of missionary personnel, and directing the seminary’s Center for World Christian Studies.

Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D., ordination in the Evangelical Covenant Church, and missionary experience with the denomination. The successful candidate must have an interest in and the ability to work with a strong program of ministerial formation, and must exhibit the desire and ability to integrate academic and spiritual formation of candidates for a broad range of ministries. The ability to engage in research and writing in a collegial setting is critical, as is compatibility with the ethos of the Evangelical Covenant Church.

North Park Theological Seminary is the denominational seminary of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
