Willie Peterson (accompanying photo), a Covenant minister who serves as an advisor to the Midsouth Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church, was the program chairperson. He also works with the Covenant’s Board of Ordered Ministry and teaches at Dallas Theological Seminary.
Linnea Carnes, pastor of Immanuel Covenant Church in Chicago, gave the opening message to the conference, which was hosted by The Servant House.
Carnes shared her experience of leading a congregation – once entirely Swedish – that is now attended by 80 people representing 14 languages. The address was in keeping with the conference theme, “Transformation: the Whys and Hows of Churches Becoming Multicultural and Multiethnic.”
This was the first Mosaix conference Carnes has attended – she says it will be beneficial for her own congregation. Two other Immanuel leaders also attended.
