LAS VEGAS, NV (October 23, 2007) – A memorial service for long-time youth pastor Steven Sprunger, 67, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Canyon Ridge Christian Church. Burial will follow.
Sprunger, who died Friday, served as youth pastor at Mercer Island Covenant Church in Mercer Island, Washington, from 1976-1994. He previously served on staff of Youth for Christ and was its local executive director in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Modesto, California.
Sprunger was born August 23, 1940, in Berne, Indiana. He married his wife, Sharon, on July 7, 1962.
In addition to Sharon, survivors include three daughters: Sondra, Sheila, and Sara; and a son, Steven II.
Retired Evangelical Covenant Church pastor Bud Palmberg will officiate at the memorial service. Memories by youth who benefited from Sprunger’s ministry may be emailed to Palmberg at palmbergdj@hotmail.com and will be forwarded to Sharon and the family.
