Campolo: ‘Time to Start Taking Jesus Seriously’
Mark Swanson of Sioux Falls, SD, writes: It is always good to hear that the challenge to take Jesus seriously is being heard at North Park, and that folks like Campolo are regulars in its chapel and participants in its conversations. Makes me proud to be a former Viking.
Conflict Unresolved; Open-Air Worship Continues
Marilyn Moore of Somerville, MA, writes: Rejoice! The folks at Vida Nueva continue to worship him in the open – with even a cross. How wonderful that these folks believe so strongly in him that they worship him despite barriers to their building. Rejoice for their courage. Rejoice for the strength of their faith. May these wonderful sisters and brothers remain strong in God’s will for them to worship openly. This is a wonderful message to the community at large.

Harvey Drake of Seattle, WA, writes: I really enjoy this (Readers Share) feature. Thanks for sharing this with the ECC family. Please keep it going.
Bayside (CA) Congregations Raise $120,000 for Schools
Ted Nordlund of Minneapolis, MN, writes: Wonderful! Now if they can match their money gifts with the willingness to adopt these schools to provide tutoring, big brother and big sister mentoring along with staff support and encouragement, the schools will then be personally touched by the love of Jesus. I refer pastors and churches who are interested in this kind of ministry to Dr. Randy Roth (Covenant pastor in the Oakland, California area) who has facilitated the adoption of many inner city schools by a number of churches. Their adoption services are many and varied depending on the needs of each school. The ideas at work through Faith Network, Inc., are transferable. For more information go to their website.

Sundholm Suffers ‘Minor’ Stroke, Recovering Nicely
Pam Haukom of Minneapolis, MN, writes: We, the congregation at Community Covenant Church in Minneapolis – where Jim was our pastor for 23 years and a wonderful servant of God – send out our prayers for him for a full recovery, so he may continue the work of God.
Palmberg: Child Insurance Protection a ‘Moral Issue’
Dick Lindberg of Dearborn, MI, writes: President Palmberg continues his support for The Sojourners’ anti-Bush, anti-conservative talking points. He ignores the reasons President Bush has said caused him to veto this bill. President Bush proposed a 20% increase in the SCHIP Program – or a $5 billion increase. The bill that President Bush vetoed called for a $35 billion increase for this $25 billion program. President Bush said that he vetoed the bill due to the increase that would cover not only poor children, but children in families with incomes as high as $82,000. Many states also cover adults under this program. It is disappointing that President Palmberg has chosen to support The Sojourners, a socialist-leaning political action organization that continues to call President Bush a liar . . . and criticizes the recent tax cuts as “immoral tax cuts for the rich.” When is President Palmberg going to speak out for traditional family values and the unborn?

Memorial Service Held for Harold Yarrington
Calvin Eddy of Rochester, NY, writes: I am so sorry. I have been trying to locate him for awhile. He spent considerable time with me in 1942 when I got hit by a car and almost died. I still have a picture of him and myself taken outside of a mission in Binghamton, New York. It is to this day on my dresser. He has been an influence on me until this day.
