Sweden’s Torsby Band to Perform in Covenant Churches

CHICAGO, IL (October 12, 2007) – The accomplished 30-piece Torsby Brass Band from Torsby, Sweden, is performing at Evangelical Covenant Churches in Lindsborg, Kansas, and Chicago this month as part of its tour through the United States.

The next performance will be during the 10:55 a.m. worship service at the Lindsborg Covenant Church on Sunday. The group is performing several other concerts this weekend as part of the community’s Hyllningsfest. For more information call 785-227-2447.

The band will present a concert at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Ravenswood Covenant Church in Chicago. Admission is free, and a free-will offering will be taken. For more information, call 773-784-7091

The band’s final concert will be at North Park Covenant church at 7 p.m. Friday. Admission is free, and a free-will offering will be taken. For more information, call 773-463-0055.

Earlier this month, the group performed at the Princeton Covenant Church in Princeton, Illinois, and First Covenant Church in Moline, Illinois.

The band won first place in both the 2005 and 2006 Swedish Brass Band Festival. It also was Sweden’s representative in the World Music Contest in Kerkrade, Holland.

The band performs a wide variety of music, including, folk, classical, marches, and sacred works.  Soloist Carita Hook is singing with the group. Curth Sandstrom, formerly a theology student at the North Park Theological Seminary, is tour leader and band pastor.
