LAKE GENEVA, WI (September 5, 2007) – The 14th annual Antwan Williams Memorial Golf for Kids event will take place September 28 at Hawk’s View Golf Club in Lake Geneva.

The golf classic is named in memory of Williams, a popular counselor at Covenant Harbor Bible Camp and Retreat Center. Williams died in an automobile accident in May 2006. To learn more about Williams and the renaming of this golf classic in his memory, please see Antwan Williams.

Golf for Kids is a benefit golf classic that enables urban city children to attend camp at Covenant Harbor. Begun in 1994 and hosted by Coach Mike Holmgren, then of the Green Bay Packers, Golf for Kids has provided scholarships for more than a thousand children from cities in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. For several years this golf classic also supported Urban Outreach, an urban ministry of North Park University. The accompanying photo of some of the campers was taken during a previous event.

The goal of this year’s event is to raise $30,000 to be used for camp scholarships for at-risk children. The event can accommodate up to 144 golfers.

Registration for the scramble event begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Registration includes a continental breakfast, box lunch, and dinner at Geneva Bay Centre at Covenant Harbor. Participants will enjoy the professional golf services of Hawk’s View including the Pro Shop, men’s and women’s locker facilities, as well as complimentary use of electric golf carts and the driving range.

Individual and team awards include prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt. Prizes for first, second, and third place based on scores will be awarded to foursomes.

“Besides golfing, there are opportunities for corporate sponsorships as well as being a “Send a Kid to Camp” sponsor for those who either cannot attend, do not golf, or would like to give additional funds besides their golfing fees,” says Jim Steere, director of development for Covenant Harbor.

Additional information is available at the Covenant Harbor website or by calling Steere at 630-690-9241 or Dave Auker at 262-248-3600.
