The conference will be held January 19-20. Cost for registration before December 15 is $75 per person, or $60 per person for four or more individuals from the same church. After December 15, the cost will be $85 per person.
Registration information can be found at McNeal Workshop.
McNeal’s work has been praised by some for its challenges to popular conceptions about church growth, including the ideas that growing a church will automatically make a difference in that church’s local community, or that church involvement results in discipleship growth.
A growing number of people are leaving churches for different reasons than in the past, McNeal contends. They are not leaving because they have lost faith, he says; rather, they leave because the church no longer contributes to their spiritual development.
To meet the current challenge, McNeal suggests the church needs to change the questions it asks. Rather than asking how to develop leaders for church work, congregations need to ask, “How do we develop leaders for the Christian movement?”
