CHICAGO, IL (September 29, 2006) – As she prepares to retire, Nancy Fisher says that helping new ordinands begin their careers in ministry has been one of the highlights of her job as administrative assistant in the Department of the Ordered Ministry of the Evangelical Covenant Church.
“I love the ordination service,” she says. “One of my favorite things to do is watch them all walk up the aisle.”

Fisher will retire December 31 from the position she has held for five years. She began working in the vice president’s office in 1992.

Fisher has played an important role in the lives of many Covenant pastors, notes Executive Minister Dave Kersten. Besides guiding new ministers through the credentialing process, she has assisted every pastor over the past five years who has gone through the pastoral care process.
“Comforting them or helping them with a problem or directing them to the right person has been one of the rewards of my job,” she says.
