CHICAGO, IL (August 23, 2006) – North Park University has released its second CD of worship music, More Than Words We Sing, which officials say reflects the multi-ethnic character of the school and its ministry.

Musical styles include hymnody, gospel, contemporary, Spanish and taize. “The CD effectively captures and expresses the undergraduate worship life of the campus,” says Mark Olson, dean of enrollment and director of church relations.

Worship CD“The cultural breadth represented is striking and may be stretching for some listeners,” Olson adds. “The fact is our students come from many different backgrounds and are welcomed as contributors as well as participants in the worship life of the campus.”

The CD can provide guidance to churches on how to integrate different musical styles, says Rich Johnson, director and interim Dean of University Ministries.

Johnson says the CD is about more than music. The title reflects a commitment to care for others beyond the chapel walls. “We understand that our worship is not complete until it is lived out in service to the world.”

The package liner notes read, “Our greatest desire is that individually and as a community here at North Park, our life will be an act of worship to our Creator.”

The first worship CD, Cry Holy, was produced by University Ministries three years ago. Both feature students leading worship.

To purchase the newly released worship CD at a cost of $11.95 from the online Covenant Bookstore, please see More Than Words We Sing. To purchase the original worship CD online at a cost of $15, please see Cry Holy.
