EDMOND, OK (August 9, 2006) – Catholics have had the confessional booth, and now everyone has the Internet by which they can confess their sins anonymously – and to the world – thanks to a website published by LifeChurch.tv, an Evangelical Covenant Church congregation offering worship experiences in multiple sites around the country.

The website, www.mysecret.tv, offers people the opportunity to post their confessions according to categories that include relationships, addictions, and leading double lives. Visitors to the website also post past regrets or feelings of shame.

Some confessions might appear to others as mundane: “I always seem to say one thing and do another.” Or, “I tell people that I’ll get something done, and then won’t.”

Other confessions include cheating on marriages:  “I had an affair several years ago, but I still live with the guilt and shame. As much as I want to be open and tell my wife, I’m afraid of the damage it will do. Pray for me.”

Still others feature praises: “I’ve been addicted to alcohol, but yesterday, July 28th, I hit six months of sobriety . . . with God’s grace and mercy, I’ve overcome. I just pray he gives me the strength to stay strong.”

According to the East Valley Tribune in Scottsdale, Arizona, about 500 people have posted confessions on the website. The newspaper published an article on the ministry in today’s edition because LifeChurch.tv has a campus in Mesa.

In addition to Mesa, LifeChurch.tv has campuses in Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, and Tennessee, as well as an Internet campus with live Internet broadcasts of its worship services. The church has a combined attendance of more than 14,000 people.
