MAGADAN, RUSSIA (December 30, 2000) – Volunteers are being recruited and oriented to be short-term faculty for the 2001-2002 school year for St. James Bible College (SJBC) in Magadan, which is sponsored by the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) and partially supported by the ECC Department of World Mission.
Requirements include a willing heart, an understanding of cross-cultural ministry and some expertise in a subject area, such as Bible study, theology, mission, evangelism and Christian education. Faculty teach a total of 50 hours of classes during a two-week period and have the opportunity to visit several Russian congregations and preach. SJBC has an excellent interpreter, so teachers need not speak Russian.
The cost to teachers is round-trip airfare to Magadan and associated travel expenses, as well as living expenses while in Russia. Visiting faculty members stay in a local apartment, with a host who assists with local arrangements. For more detail, check the Covenant web site at www.covchurch.org/cov/magadan/.
