CHICAGO, IL (December 24, 2000) – North Park University awarded 79 graduate degrees, 61 Bachelor of Arts, 14 Bachelor of Science and 20 Bachelor of General Science degrees at its recent winter commencement. This year’s ceremony was held for the first time in the campus gymnasium due to the growing number of December graduates.
Donna Erickson, North Park alumna Class of 1971 and executive producer and host of television’s Donna’s Day, delivered the commencement address. University President David G. Horner and Provost Margaret J. Haefner conferred degrees.
Erickson is an award-winning author of eight books, a syndicated columnist, a contributing editor of PARENTS magazine and developer of www.rrr.net, an online education company. She earned a bachelor’s degree from North Park College and a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota. She has made a career as an advocate for strengthening family ties and building positive relationships between adults and children.
Founded in 1891 by The Evangelical Covenant Church, North Park University is located on Chicago’s north side and enrolls more than 2,600 students from around the world. Repeatedly named one of America’s best colleges by U.S. News & World Report, North Park provides education through a variety of day, evening and weekend programs.
