{"id":1573,"date":"2016-09-01T10:56:40","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T09:56:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/?p=1573"},"modified":"2016-09-01T10:56:40","modified_gmt":"2016-09-01T09:56:40","slug":"bringing-hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/2016\/09\/01\/bringing-hope\/","title":{"rendered":"Bringing Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Friday afternoon found me on a bus headed to the port city of Douala. \u00a0This is not my usual Friday afternoon routine &#8211; but waiting in Douala was the ship the\u00a0<em>Logos Hope. \u00a0<\/em>I and a friend went to meet a former student who is currently serving on this ship that travels around the world bringing knowledge, help and hope.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/2016\/09\/01\/bringing-hope\/dscf5937\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1575\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1575\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5937.jpg\" alt=\"DSCF5937\" width=\"3240\" height=\"4320\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5937.jpg 3240w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5937-113x150.jpg 113w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5937-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5937-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 3240px) 100vw, 3240px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Saturday morning found us standing in a slightly soggy line waiting to board a bus to take us to the ship. \u00a0The ship is\u00a0<strong>BIG.<\/strong> \u00a0We watched crowds of people enter the introduction theater while waiting for Zac to arrive. \u00a0We saw first-hand the kind and helpful way the ships crew helped people find their way into the introduction and then on to the book fair.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1576\" style=\"width: 4330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/2016\/09\/01\/bringing-hope\/dscf5942\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1576\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1576\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1576\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5942.jpg\" alt=\"Zac and i on the bridge of the Logos Hope.\" width=\"4320\" height=\"3240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5942.jpg 4320w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5942-150x113.jpg 150w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5942-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5942-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 4320px) 100vw, 4320px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1576\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zac and I on the bridge of the <em>Logos Hope<\/em>.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Zac showed us around the ship, explaining the mission of the ship as we went. \u00a0He showed us pictures of teams working at the various ports they visited, some of the activities that visitors to the ship can attend, and where he has been working in the Engine room.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1577\" style=\"width: 4330px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/2016\/09\/01\/bringing-hope\/dscf5944\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1577\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1577\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1577\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/jcstoker\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/76\/2016\/09\/DSCF5944.jpg\" alt=\"This is the lion Aslan for the production of &quot;The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe&quot; that they do on the ship.
