Celebrating 11 years

This past Friday we had the privilege of celebrating with Casa de Paz (Peace House) as it celebrates 11 years of ministry and service. Case de Paz is a home for boys, who come from at-risk, marginalized neighborhoods and who’s parents for various reasons are not able to care for them. Many of the boys come from single-mother homes and the mothers have expressed concern about being able to keep their children safe and growing in a healthy environment. Currently there are 12 boys, ages 5-12 living at Casa de Paz. They receive love and care from the people who live and serve at the home, they are able to attend the local school, they receive psychological help and spiritual nurturing. The ministry also seeks to engage the mothers/parents in the process and offers space for personal development and offers pastoral care and guidance. On school breaks the boys return to their families.

Before going on home assignment Julio and the boys would go visit Casa de Paz every Friday. Our boys got to know and befriend the boys who live there. It was fun to see several of them and meet the new members of the house. The celebration included songs from the boys, a reflection from the pastor of the local church that started this ministry, and a delicious meal and cake. Please keep these boys, the leaders of this ministry, the women and men who serve the boys and spend time with them, the house parents, and the families of the boys in your prayers.
