{"id":740,"date":"2015-02-21T13:11:55","date_gmt":"2015-02-21T17:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/?p=740"},"modified":"2015-02-21T14:38:39","modified_gmt":"2015-02-21T18:38:39","slug":"and-they-dropped-their-phones-and-followed-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/?p=740","title":{"rendered":"&#8230;and they dropped their phones, and followed Him"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"color: #800080\">We decided on doing a two day retreat that would give people\u00a0a chance to be still from their labors, focus on God and be reunited as a team.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080\">The first aha moment came when a bag was passed around which collected their &#8220;phone offerings&#8221;&#8230;freeing everyone from the distraction of games, facebook, LINE (popular in Thailand) and selfies&#8230;.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080\">We spent time in God&#8217;s Word and a lot of time in reflection and rest. \u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080\">We came together to share our hearts \u00a0and our lives in Christ and at the end of the retreat, to take those steps towards truly being the family of God He has made us to be, as we owned our sinful words and actions and asked \u00a0&#8220;to build trust again&#8221; from one another.<\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #800080\">We watched the movie, &#8220;Courageous&#8221;, together and hearts were moved and encouraged, but the women came away wondering why none of the Thai men in their lives (dads, brothers, former husbands, sons) were around to be met by God in that moment. \u00a0They were challenged to make choices themselves to let God into those hurting, damaged areas and to live lives for His glory.<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_779\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-779\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2015\/02\/Panja-Resort.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-779\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2015\/02\/Panja-Resort.jpg\" alt=\"Panja Resort\" width=\"410\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2015\/02\/Panja-Resort.jpg 312w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/15\/2015\/02\/Panja-Resort-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-779\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">our get-away place 30 minutes from the Abundant Life Center&#8230;.the weather was great as we met outside in this gazebo area&#8230;and we&#8217;re able to enjoy being in His creation and with one another.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=740&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We decided on doing a two day retreat that would give people\u00a0a chance to be still from their labors, focus on God and be reunited as a team.
