{"id":139,"date":"2012-03-21T21:57:56","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T01:57:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/?p=139"},"modified":"2012-03-21T21:57:56","modified_gmt":"2012-03-22T01:57:56","slug":"february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot\/?p=139","title":{"rendered":"February"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><strong>This was sent by one of our supporting churches, which I appreciated as I entered this Easter Season&#8230;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\">ash wednesday and beyond<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\">On February 22<sup>nd<\/sup> the season of Lent begins. \u00a0The Lenten season by walking through the book &#8220;A Place At The Table&#8221;, by Chris Seay.\u00a0 Our Peace and Justice team in collaboration with our Spiritual Formation team are encouraging us to enter into 40 days of solidarity with the poor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\">Seay\u2019s challenge is created\/worded like this:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\">In our culture of consumption it is easy to forget the poor that Jesus cared so much about.\u00a0 We get caught up in acquiring, buying, and filling our lives and our stomachs \u2013 often without thought.\u00a0 The author Seay suggests that paradoxically the more we consume the more our undisciplined spirits wither and starve.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800080\">The point of the book is to create self-reflection, prayer, transformation, and focus.\u00a0 The book challenges us to spend 40 days with less, and then actually try to use the resources we have save by spending less in a way that benefits others and serves the poor in concrete ways..<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">We are about two weeks out on the road to the cross. \u00a0May we be conscious of who we are in light of the cross and who we have become because of the cross&#8230;.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/groot?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=139&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This was sent by one of our supporting churches, which I appreciated as I entered this Easter Season&#8230;
