{"id":1961,"date":"2012-11-23T06:27:47","date_gmt":"2012-11-23T11:27:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ekstrand\/?p=1961"},"modified":"2012-11-26T18:39:46","modified_gmt":"2012-11-26T23:39:46","slug":"thanksgiving-in-congo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ekstrand\/2012\/11\/thanksgiving-in-congo\/","title":{"rendered":"Thanksgiving in Congo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_1963\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2012\/11\/Thanksgiving-meal-2-800x6001.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1963\" class=\" wp-image-1963 \" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2012\/11\/Thanksgiving-meal-2-800x6001-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ekstrand\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2012\/11\/Thanksgiving-meal-2-800x6001-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/ekstrand\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2012\/11\/Thanksgiving-meal-2-800x6001.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 240px) 100vw, 240px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1963\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">serving the Thanksgiving feast<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Thanksgiving is a special time everywhere and we make it so here. \u00a0At 5pm yesterday we were 13 people to our house for a wonderful\u00a0meal plus time of giving thanks and singing. \u00a0We were not lacking for food as the photos show. \u00a0No, we didn&#8217;t have turkey, but we bought the largest chickens we could and they were wonderfully roasted. \u00a0No Irish potatoes, but mashed white sweet potatoes were great with the chicken gravy. \u00a0And there were fresh green beans, squash casserole, corn pudding, fresh rolls, jello salad with a whipped topping and two kinds of stuffing\/dressing. \u00a0For those who had room left after the above we had 3, yes THREE, kinds of pie: pumpkin (squash) , lemon meringue and a mock apple made from green, unripe papaya (yes, that does work).<\/p>\n<p>After the above we shared and sang and even had a baritone solo.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing in the meal were neighbors Tim &amp;
