He repeated this before the moms and kids. Also encouraging the mothers were the Bogoze-Nubea Hospital Administrator Jean-Pierre Mbewa-Lewa and the nurse of the Bogose-Konu health center.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1302\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2011\/05\/waiting-for-program-to-start.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1302\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1302\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2011\/05\/waiting-for-program-to-start-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1302\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Waiting for vaccines<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After these opening exhortations the vaccination began.  Each child received one drop of the vaccine and some vitamin A.  After being vaccinated they marked the little finger of each child with a black magic marker as an easy way to tell that this child had been vaccinated.  Marta Klein, short-term physician\u2019s assistant serving at Karawa, accompanied us and was invited to vaccinate a child. Bogose-Nubea is the reference hospital for this health zone.  There we asked how many kids were vaccinated during the first campaign at the end of April.  In Bogose-Konu, 1,660 children ages 0 to 5 years old out of a census of 1,718 were vaccinated.  That is 96% coverage!  We learned that those who weren\u2019t vaccinated were off at houses in fields in the forest areas.
