Returning from Ecuador this past week, I come back on a high after celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Medical Clinic, the 9th Anniversary of the Children\u2019s Home as well as the additional respective anniversaries of each and every of the beautiful ministries in Cayambe that we have created together in partnership with our Ecuador friends and with God\u2019s provision and goodness. I wish you all could have been there for such a beautiful event that our Ecuadorian partners created for those in attendance. The day was so beautiful and so memorable. God blessed us with a beautiful sun-soaked day that provided glimpses of our treasured volcano, Cayambe, in view.\u00a0 The FACE staff did an amazing job finishing the construction on the 2nd floor, which looks just beautiful, setting up the stands for the different ministries and providing tours of the different ministries for the events participants.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Well over 100 people congregated from all over Cayambe and the surrounding area as well as Quito and, of course, one from the United States. These kinds of events provide the FACE staff with the opportunity to show off our ministry and strengthen their commitments with our local donors, collaborators and partners.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I was given the opportunity to share during the ceremony and for some reason they had me cut the ribbon to inaugurate the completion of the second floor. I wouldn\u2019t have normally accepted the opportunity to be the one to cut the ribbon but since they had me do it when I was up front, I didn\u2019t want to be rude and say no in front of all our guests. When speaking with the group that had congregated, I spoke about God\u2019s faithfulness. That throughout the sixteen years that we started being missionaries and started this ministry twelve years ago, that God has been faithful throughout. In the low moments when we didn\u2019t know how to carve a path forward nor where to go, God was with us showing us the way. In the moments of joy and celebration, like that day, God was with us celebrating with us. And He is not the only one who has been faithful, but so has our Ecuadorian partners of FACE, IPEE, project leadership, and the staff of the Medical Clinic, Children\u2019s Home, Intervention Program, Sumak and Forever Flowers. Additionally, many more have been faithful as well like you all, our donors and supporters, the Board of the Santiago Partnership, and our volunteers and our partners. So many folks have been faithful to God and his call to make this beautiful ministry possible. I am thankful to God and his people for their faithfulness these past 10 years and the continued faithfulness going on into the future.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the day after the festivities, our Leadership Team comprised of Santiago Guaman, Carlita Cabascango and Esthercita Moreira, were kind enough to take 3 hours of their day on Sunday to meet with me to discuss the projects advances and where things were getting stuck.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I felt like this was a very productive and profitable time for us to be together and talk about different topics.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Finally, on Monday before I left, I had the unique opportunity to meet with the kids from the Children\u2019s Home.<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The past few years with our transition and especially since I turned 50 last November I have been reflecting a lot. Amidst all the problems, stress and strife that Kim and I have experienced the last few years, we do have a lot to be thankful for.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

I told them the story how I went on Honduras in 1999 and visited that country that recently been hit by a hurricane that had destroyed it. There I had the opportunity to help people rebuild their homes who had lost them. I saw children that had lost their parents and didn’t really have any opportunity in life.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

God placed those children on my heart to do something for them as he had blessed me so much in my own life.\u00a0 It was at that moment serving vulnerable children in Ecuador and specifically our kids in the Home became my passion and life’s call.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

I told the kids they’re in the park that day that I’ve been trying to help them ever since that moment in Honduras way back in 1999.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

But how small and finite is my love in comparison to God’s who has counted the very hairs of their heads and has named the stars after them.<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

I told them that I can’t even imagine the difficult situations that they are encountering right now that they find themselves with us in the home.\u00a0 What I do know is that I love them and God loves them more than they can even imagine.<\/h3>\n
