{"id":469,"date":"2010-10-19T17:42:36","date_gmt":"2010-10-19T21:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=469"},"modified":"2010-11-26T18:27:30","modified_gmt":"2010-11-26T22:27:30","slug":"1-trip-down-1-to-go","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=469","title":{"rendered":"1 Trip Down, 1 To Go"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Baths_Waterfall.jpg\"><\/a><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Family_Falls.jpg\"><\/a>We got back early Sunday evening from our first trip to Cuenca.\u00a0 We had headed down to the southern city of Cuenca for a couple of reasons.\u00a0 First of all, our Spanish school here in Quito has a branch in Cuenca where we could continue to study there, following the exact same curriculum.\u00a0 Secondly, Cuenca is known as the historical and cultural capital of Ecuador.\u00a0 It has a very rich history and the architecture to back up.\u00a0 It is one of the declared World Heritages\u00a0by\u00a0UNESCO.\u00a0 We thought that now, being a time in which we are studying and learning about the culture, that we could travel down to it and learn more about the country and the culture.\u00a0 We spent one week there taking clases.\u00a0 We also had the opportunity to visit the Incan Ruins in Ingapirca and the cities of Riobamba and Banos.\u00a0 Here are some pictures for you to enjoy:<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_470\" style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Beautiful_Countryside.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-470\" class=\"size-full wp-image-470\" title=\"Beautiful_Countryside\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Beautiful_Countryside.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-470\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of the many beautiful views from our on our trip.<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl>\n<dt><\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Chimbarazo_Church.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-471\" title=\"Chimbarazo_Church\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Chimbarazo_Church.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"550\" height=\"309\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<dl><\/dl>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\n<dl>\n<dt><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2010\/10\/Family+.jpg\"><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd>A church we passed on the way with the Volcano Chimbarazo behind it. Chimbarazo&#8217;s peak is the highest point on the earth above sea level (Mt. A gentleman had these ducks trained to listen for his stick to know which direction to walk. He was walking them all around the city. Banos is so called meaning &quot;Baths&quot; as it is known for it&#39;s hot water springs, which Ecuatorianos love to come bath in.
