{"id":4454,"date":"2015-12-24T00:12:07","date_gmt":"2015-12-24T04:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=4454"},"modified":"2015-12-24T02:22:52","modified_gmt":"2015-12-24T06:22:52","slug":"4454","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=4454","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Eve Reflection from Kim"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/DSC_2549.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-4455 \" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/DSC_2549-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"DSC_2549\" width=\"456\" height=\"304\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/DSC_2549-300x200.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2015\/12\/DSC_2549-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 456px) 100vw, 456px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>As I was feeding my newborn the other day, I was looking into his face as he was sleeping.\u00a0 How beautiful, peaceful and innocent he is.\u00a0 Unaware of the crazy, dangerous and uncertain world around us.\u00a0 He is reliant on us for everything he needs right now. \u00a0I also thought about what it must have felt like for Mary when she would gaze into the face of Jesus.\u00a0 I\u2019m guessing she didn\u2019t think too differently from myself when I look at Ephraim.\u00a0 I imagine what he will sound like when he speaks, what his personality will be like, what he will be when he grows up,etc.\u00a0 In Luke, we read:<\/h3>\n<h3><em>\u201cBut Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.\u201d<\/em><\/h3>\n<h3>I imagine she was trying to put this whirlwind of thoughts together and allow her mind and heart and emotions to catch up to each other.\u00a0 But as most mothers do, she probably wanted to treasure this experience, to burn every inch of it into her brain so she wouldn\u2019t forget.\u00a0 The smells, the sights, the sounds, all of it.\u00a0 She knew that this was a holy and sacred occurrence.<\/h3>\n<h3>Is it different for us today, even this very day?\u00a0 Jesus was born into a world much similar to ours in many ways.\u00a0 Our world is complex and dangerous and uncertain.\u00a0 When I think of my children growing up in it, I could get overwhelmed with fear because it is so uncertain.\u00a0 Mary probably had similar thoughts and fears and anxieties.\u00a0 We never know what will happen in the future.\u00a0 How was Mary to know that her sweet baby would eventually die on a cross, for her, her husband and the rest of the world?<\/h3>\n<h3>As we ponder many things this Christmas Eve, I ask you to reflect number one on Jesus, on the story of His birth, its significance to you and your life and how your life has or could change from Jesus coming to save the world.\u00a0 Remember that God is the Prince of Peace and that no matter what you face, what our world faces, that He is the guide to the path of Peace.\u00a0 Number 2, I ask that you think about other children, specifically children that could be thousands of miles away from you here in Ecuador.\u00a0 Imagine with me for a moment a small child that shivers in the cold, laying on the dirt floor of their shack with brothers and sisters because there is no other place for them to sleep.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t seem that far off from Jesus in a manger, huh?\u00a0 That is reality for some kids in the area where we serve in Ecuador.\u00a0 We don\u2019t want that for them and we know that Jesus calls us to \u2026<em>look after orphans and widows in their distress<\/em>\u2026<\/h3>\n<h3>This Christmas season we pray for God\u2019s peace in your life.\u00a0 We pray for God\u2019s hope in the lives of children in Ecuador and we pray that we can partner together to help at-risk kids to know a savior, THE Savior of the world.<\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=4454&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As I was feeding my newborn the other day, I was looking into his face as he was sleeping.\u00a0 How beautiful, peaceful and innocent he is.\u00a0 Unaware of the crazy, dangerous and uncertain world around us.\u00a0 He is reliant on us for everything he needs right now. \u00a0I also thought about what it must have &hellip;
