{"id":1785,"date":"2012-04-13T13:23:18","date_gmt":"2012-04-13T17:23:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1785"},"modified":"2012-04-15T11:10:26","modified_gmt":"2012-04-15T15:10:26","slug":"visit-to-ibarra-and-the-north-district-of-ecuador","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1785","title":{"rendered":"Visit to Ibarra and the North District of Ecuador"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We returned on Wednesday late at night from a couple day visit to the North District of Ecuador. \u00a0This visit included trips to San Gabriel (close to the Colombian border), Ibarra, and 2 indigenous churches in Zuleta and Pungo Huayco. \u00a0It was a great time of visiting with pastor&#8217;s and\u00a0lay leaders\u00a0who are passionate about children&#8217;s ministries. \u00a0We had a meeting on Monday night with all but 2 churches in the district to talk about our future ministry with the center for at-risk children and medical clinic. \u00a0Joel went to San Gabriel on Tuesday morning and then the whole family went to visit Zuleta. \u00a0It has been wonderful getting to know these areas that are only 2-3 hours from Quito. \u00a0There is a lot of excitement about the possibilities in the North District. \u00a0One plus in thinking about this area is that there are many\u00a0Compassion International\u00a0Centers in these areas. \u00a0It&#8217;s a fairly poor area of Ecuador, and although there are not obvious problems of\u00a0abandonment\u00a0of children, there are\u00a0definitely\u00a0a lot of at-risk children.<\/p>\n<p>Please continue to pray for us as we gather information for the field study and wisdom for those who will be making decisions about where future ministries will be.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1789\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2012\/04\/Pungo-Huayco-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1789\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1789\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2012\/04\/Pungo-Huayco-2-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2012\/04\/Pungo-Huayco-2-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2012\/04\/Pungo-Huayco-2.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1789\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Members of the indigenous church of Pungo Huayco.
