{"id":1276,"date":"2011-09-01T13:55:13","date_gmt":"2011-09-01T17:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1276"},"modified":"2011-09-01T14:03:07","modified_gmt":"2011-09-01T18:03:07","slug":"evergreen-covenant-vision-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1276","title":{"rendered":"Evergreen Covenant Vision Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We just finished hosting the Vision Team from Evergreen Covenant Church in Sanford, ME. \u00a0We had a great time with them. \u00a0In the end we visited 7 different possible locations that they could partner with for future ministry. \u00a0Six of the seven locations were indigenous\u00a0churches who held their services in their native tongue (Quichua) as well as in Spanish. \u00a0The good thing was that all of the churches were located near or around the\u00a0Volcano\u00a0Cayambe, so the traveling wasn&#8217;t too, too extensive. \u00a0The team, Joel and Henry Burbano were treated very well by all of the churches we visited. \u00a0The team even got the opportunity to really experience culture when they were fed Cuy (Guinea pig) a couple of times. \u00a0They probably won&#8217;t be cooking it up when they get home.<\/p>\n<p>This was a bit of stepping out of my comfort zone (Joel). \u00a0I was the translator for the team so while we were out and about I was the one responsible for translating in both directions. \u00a0It was definitely good that most everyone spoke Spanish in addition to their native Quichua. \u00a0In the end, everything went just fine. \u00a0My translations were not always perfect but the main point was always understood.<\/p>\n<p>Now, that they have headed back. \u00a0They are going to take all of the information that they have collected and share it with their congregation. \u00a0Then from there, as a church body, they are going to pray about the Lord&#8217;s leading in which direction to go to form a partnership. \u00a0It will be pretty difficult in that so many of the locations were filled with such wonderful people and vision for future ministry.<\/p>\n<p>We finished up our time with them by taking them to historic sites in Quito as well as to the Equator. \u00a0We had a great time with a lot of laughs. \u00a0One of our highlights is pictured below when one of the churches we visited took us on a horse ride up to the top of a mountain. \u00a0It was a pretty cool!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/09\/Vision_Team.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1277\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/09\/Vision_Team.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"581\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/09\/Vision_Team.jpg 581w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/09\/Vision_Team-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 581px) 100vw, 581px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=1276&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We just finished hosting the Vision Team from Evergreen Covenant Church in Sanford, ME. \u00a0We had a great time with them. \u00a0In the end we visited 7 different possible locations that they could partner with for future ministry. \u00a0Six of the seven locations were indigenous\u00a0churches who held their services in their native tongue (Quichua) as &hellip;
