{"id":1101,"date":"2011-05-21T21:56:10","date_gmt":"2011-05-22T01:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1101"},"modified":"2011-05-21T21:56:10","modified_gmt":"2011-05-22T01:56:10","slug":"update-and-prayer-requests-for-ruthie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1101","title":{"rendered":"Update and Prayer Requests for Ruthie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/05\/DSC014376.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1102\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/05\/DSC014376-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/05\/DSC014376-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/05\/DSC014376-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Sorry for delays in posting since we arrived in Indiana. \u00a0We have been pretty busy, although that is not an excuse.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday (Friday), Ruthie was moved to the rehab unit at Elkhart hospital. \u00a0Here she will be receiving intense therapy with physical, occupational and speech. \u00a0The primary therapy that she needs is SPEECH therapy. \u00a0This therapy will teach her muscles in her throat how to swallow. \u00a0The speech therapists will help with this. \u00a0At this point, she is swallowing minimally and continues to have the feeding tube in her nose where she receives continuous feeding.<\/p>\n<p>She seems in better spirits these last 2 days. \u00a0Of course she wishes and wants so bad to be home. \u00a0However, she knows she has to work hard to help her get home. \u00a0Today (Saturday), Joel, Simeon and myself were able to take her outside to enjoy a beautiful day. \u00a0We were out for about 20 minutes. \u00a0I think this helped some since she LOVES outside so much. \u00a0I (Kim), have been able to try and keep up with feeding her bluebirds here at her house as well as checking all of the nests to see if there are baby birds in them. \u00a0Of course I am updating her which she loves! \u00a0I have been enjoying Spring in Indiana with the lilacs and lilies of the valley as well as all kinds of nesting birds around the Delp house. \u00a0It is has been a blessing. \u00a0Simeon has enjoyed getting to know his cousins better! \u00a0He is having a lot of fun with them!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Please continue to pray for rapid healing. \u00a0Pray that the bone graft that they did to her spinal cord will &#8220;take&#8221; so there is no residual damage. \u00a0Also please pray for rehab starting Monday. \u00a0That she will not be discouraged, but will continue to press on. \u00a0She is scared that not being able to swallow well is permanent. \u00a0There is not evidence of this, but please continue to pray for healing of her swallowing.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=1101&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for delays in posting since we arrived in Indiana. \u00a0We have been pretty busy, although that is not an excuse.
