{"id":1056,"date":"2011-05-12T21:00:36","date_gmt":"2011-05-13T01:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1056"},"modified":"2011-05-12T21:00:36","modified_gmt":"2011-05-13T01:00:36","slug":"update-on-ruthie-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp\/?p=1056","title":{"rendered":"Update on Ruthie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/05\/DSC014372.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1057\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2011\/05\/DSC014372.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"389\" height=\"518\" \/><\/a>We just got a call from Shana again at a little after 7:30PM our time that said Ruthie was out of surgery. \u00a0They talked with the surgeon and he said that the tumor had grown deep into the vertebrae which he knew, but it was also wrapped around the spinal cord, which he did not expect. \u00a0He felt confident he got all of the tumor! \u00a0He did a bone graft because he took a lot of the vertebrae which the tumor had grown into. \u00a0Because of this, he had to take some bone from her hip, which will also be a recovery in itself. \u00a0At this point, she is wearing a &#8216;cage&#8217;. \u00a0It is basically a metal contraption to keep her head from moving since so much bone was removed. \u00a0The family was waiting to see her and will call if they are able to. \u00a0Not sure at this point if there is any damage done as far as speech, mentation etc&#8230;this we will not know until she wakes up a bit. \u00a0We are hoping they keep her heavily sedated so she does not feel any pain at this point. \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Please continue to pray for safety and protection from injury during these next couple of days. \u00a0Pray for rest, peace and limited pain if she does wake up in the next couple of days. \u00a0The doctor&#8217;s will probably try to wake her up to check her mental status. \u00a0Pray for strength for Earl and the rest of the family.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We will continue to keep you updated. \u00a0Thank you for your prayers!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/delp?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=1056&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We just got a call from Shana again at a little after 7:30PM our time that said Ruthie was out of surgery. \u00a0They talked with the surgeon and he said that the tumor had grown deep into the vertebrae which he knew, but it was also wrapped around the spinal cord, which he did not &hellip;
