{"id":806,"date":"2011-09-28T03:15:26","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T02:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/?p=806"},"modified":"2011-10-01T01:38:19","modified_gmt":"2011-10-01T00:38:19","slug":"mission-springs-womens-retreats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/2011\/09\/28\/mission-springs-womens-retreats\/","title":{"rendered":"Mission Springs women&#8217;s retreats"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I went to Mission Springs with a less than carefree heart, thinking about all the minutes I was going to be up in front, sharing.\u00a0 I had many people praying, and by the grace of God I talked and talked and talked, with peace in my heart.\u00a0 I tended to be a runaway train, getting off track from my prepared words, going overtime, but judging from the women&#8217;s reactions, the most important stories and\u00a0the challenge to each one to reach out was heard.\u00a0 I was SO BLESSED to make some precious new friends; women with encouraging words and amazing giftedness, women that made me cry with their tenderness and laugh &#8217;til my face hurt.\u00a0 What a gift these retreats were to me, giving me more than I was able to give.\u00a0 Our speaker, Catherine,\u00a0is amazing, teaching with warmth and tenderness, emphasizing the need for women of all ages to be woven together in relationships and giftings.\u00a0 The conference head of Covenant women, Yvonne, is so full of joy and the Spirit, her enthusiasm is catching!  I was blessed to get to know, a little bit, Megan Gillan, head of Covenant Women Ministries nationally. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/blog-Kathryn1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-807\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/blog-Kathryn1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"379\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/blog-Kathryn1.jpg 336w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/blog-Kathryn1-270x300.jpg 270w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 379px) 100vw, 379px\" \/><\/a><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/MS-friends-31.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-808\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/MS-friends-31.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"336\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/MS-friends-31.jpg 336w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2011\/09\/MS-friends-31-229x300.jpg 229w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 336px) 100vw, 336px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I had a &#8220;shepherdess&#8221;, Launa, who arranged everything for me, made sure that when I spoke I had water and tissues and mints and was covered in prayer.  She made sure I made trips to town for thrift shopping and yummy Marianne&#8217;s ice cream (okay, I admit it, I went for ice cream every day, one day I even went twice!!), that I had a care basket in my room and that I lacked for nothing. We live on an experimental\\\/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
