Yes, we\u2019re still picking macadamia nuts to help out our farm host family while workers can\u2019t come, making the best of Covid19.\u00a0 The farm manager, Zweli, is doing the lion\u2019s share of the work with his granddaughter, Ane, in close attendance.\u00a0 She is so agile climbing up the trees to get many nuts, and she keeps up a constant conversation if her grandpa is within earshot, because she is definitely most comfortable speaking Xhosa.\u00a0 (That Xh is pronounced as a click\/tsk)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The rest of us pitch in picking when we can however we can.\u00a0 The picking is almost done, just a few trees left.\u00a0 Sam has made a drying vat with an old industrial fan and one of our old jojo water tanks.\u00a0 This will keep the macadamias dry until they\u2019re ready to take to the co-op.<\/p>\n

When the days are done, we clean up<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

and then enjoy each other’s company.\u00a0 We might play pickleball or go for a brisk hilly walk on the farm property, or just eat supper and hang out together.\u00a0 We are blessed and we hope you each have some way of working and relaxing in this new rhythm of life.<\/p>\n

CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
