June 21st<\/sup> we woke up at 4 am to the sound of gentle rain falling.\u00a0 Normally that would be a very welcome sound, but that day was the day of our retirement party, to take place outside.\u00a0 Thankfully the rain lasted only a couple of hours. The CEFA crew had worked hard at creating a protected place, borrowing tarps from everyone they could \u2013 this to protect from the sunshine as well as the possibility of rain.\u00a0 As it happened, the sunshine was intense until the afternoon downpour when the party was over.\u00a0 The speakers were protected from the blazing sun by umbrella, and the audience by tarps.\u00a0 The four of us, Roy & I and Benoit & Laurentine, were honored that day, touched by the love and thankfulness expressed of so many in so many ways.<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
