{"id":542,"date":"2010-12-20T15:55:57","date_gmt":"2010-12-20T14:55:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/?p=542"},"modified":"2011-10-01T04:01:17","modified_gmt":"2011-10-01T03:01:17","slug":"electricity-and-water-woes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/2010\/12\/20\/electricity-and-water-woes\/","title":{"rendered":"Electricity and water woes!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I could post a bunch of sad faces lined up at a none functioning water faucet, or nurses giving meds by kerosene lantern, or seedlings in the nursery drying up&#8230; suffice it to say we&#8217;ve got the utility blues here at Gamboula these days.\u00a0 We have a turbine on the nearby river that normally gives 24 hour electricity and pumps fresh clean water directly from a deep well directly into our pipes, &#8220;normally&#8221; being the important word in that sentence.\u00a0 A bearing went out and there was some repair work done which temporarily helped, but now we have mega problems.\u00a0 We are realizing how spoiled we have been, and are learning to function again with candles and little gas burners like we did back in Congo days.\u00a0 I understand that we are in search of a new generator for the turbine, and it may be another month or two before it arrives.\u00a0 It probably will be purchased in Europe and air freighted down to us, which means a huge\u00a0amount of money.\u00a0 \u00a0In the meantime, we are burning lots of expensive fuel to keep the hospital running at a minimum level.\u00a0 Please pray for us, for the generator to come quickly, for the hospital to function adequately in spite of the water &amp; power blues!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=542&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I could post a bunch of sad faces lined up at a none functioning water faucet, or nurses giving meds by kerosene lantern, or seedlings in the nursery drying up&#8230; suffice it to say we&#8217;ve got the utility blues here &hellip; <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/2010\/12\/20\/electricity-and-water-woes\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":9,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[472],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-542","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-mission"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Electricity and water woes!
