Little did we know that sweat bees, the pesky gnat like creatures that buzz around your head and get in your hair, especially when you\u2019re hot and sweaty, (hence our nickname for them) actually make tasty honey?\u00a0 We knew that they could make a sticky hard-to-remove glob of wax.\u00a0 We knew that they could gum up a keyhole like nobody\u2019s business. We knew that they love to make tube tunnels into window and door frames to make their homes. \u00a0I actually also knew that they have an affinity for my dark bluegreen dress \u2013 I have had them start to make a waxy mess up the sleeve, in just a few hours\u2019 time on the clothesline, why that particular dress? \u00a0Who knows.\u00a0 We discovered, as our welder friend, Serge, was reinforcing the bolts on our anti-theft window bars, that they make delicious honey.\u00a0 In order for Serge to get to the bolts, the wooden window frames and removable sills had to be scooted back.\u00a0 All the bedroom and bathroom windows in the vacant house next door (sometimes used by short termers and guests) had honey factories in the frames.\u00a0 Here are Sylvie and Antonio enjoying some honey! \u00a0The honeycomb is very different looking, like little bulbs on stalks. \u00a0I wonder if there are larva in the bulbs, like in regular honey bee combs?<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
