\"blog-thanksgiving-saf\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We are thankful for our family, friends, and the way the Lord has blessed us through circumstances this past year. There is a myriad of reasons why it is a challenge to live this life but it seems to me that there is a wonderful balance. \u00a0As we look around us and take in what we see, in people, places, and things, we experience both joy and sorrow. \u00a0Our hearts sing when we welcome new friends and reunite with old ones. \u00a0We are saddened when the time for departure swings around. \u00a0We are excited when a friend is healed and our hearts ache when someone passes away. \u00a0God blesses us with the incredible beauty of creation, but then here comes a raging, destructive grass fire. \u00a0Ups and downs, smiles and tears, all part of making our way through life.\u00a0 To learn to give thanks for the bad as well as the good is a lesson we are learning, a continual process as we so easily revert back to complaint and worry.\u00a0 A good reminder from the Good Book; in Romans 5 \u201c\u2026challenges produce perseverance, and perseverance, character; and character, hope\u201d.\u00a0 Hope.\u00a0 Hope for earthly situations, hope for eternal life.<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
