\"blog<\/a>It\u2019s the middle of rainy season and the road out to the farm is a work in progress.\u00a0 They\u2019re trying to make this very bad stretch into smooth road, and that means filling in the holes and crevasses; read \u2013 the road looked a bit like a river bed. BUT, did I mention it\u2019s rainy season?\u00a0 If the rains come in between filling in the holes and topping it with gravel, you get slimy slippery mud.\u00a0 As I was on my way in to the mission hospital one morning, I came upon CEFA\u2019s expert and very careful driver, Augustin, stuck with one wheel in the ditch.\u00a0 I am a wimp when it comes to navigating in4-wheel drive, I do it, but I will hand over the steering wheel to someone more experienced if possible, especially in a situation when I have to avoid slipping into a truck on one side and slipping into a ditch on the other.\u00a0 Roy and most all the other drivers would look and this and say \u201cthis is a cinch\u201d. \u00a0\u00a0Nonetheless, I asked Augustin to drive my truck to the other side of his, which he was very happy to do for me.\u00a0 I continued on my way and when I got to the mission I asked Kim to go pull Augustin out of the ditch with his jeep.\u00a0 Our truck has a winch on it, but Augustin didn\u2019t think it was a good idea to try to pull with it.\u00a0 Kim confirmed that using our truck would\u2019ve been a bad idea for various reasons.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful that Augustin used his good judgement and asked for me to get Kim. Sometimes we need to pass things that are frightening or difficult or just plain unwise for us given the circumstances on to those who are more capable.\u00a0 I hope and pray that I can have an open heart and mind to ask for help when I need it.\u00a0 It\u2019s a very cool thing to live in a community where you can ask for help or prayer if you\u2019ve a mind to.\u00a0 I\u2019m thankful to be right where the Lord put me.<\/p>\n

We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
