{"id":3282,"date":"2015-06-17T14:11:33","date_gmt":"2015-06-17T13:11:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/?p=3282"},"modified":"2015-06-17T14:11:33","modified_gmt":"2015-06-17T13:11:33","slug":"celebrating-ruth-noren","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/2015\/06\/17\/celebrating-ruth-noren\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating Ruth Noren"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A small group of family and friends\u00a0gathered together yesterday, June 16th, in Grand Rapids, MI, to celebrate the life of Ruth Noren. \u00a0Many spoke of her in terms of the fruit of the spirit, and God had generously gifted her with all of them, but we also remembered her spunk and spontaneity, AND\u00a0her sense of humor. \u00a0Whenever our family was\u00a0with the Noren Srs., we were always welcomed like long lost family, loved on and fed well. \u00a0But the thing that sticks with me is the joy and laughter; even when things were tough, Ed and Ruth always had something to chuckle about. I think part of that was that they were actively praying about the problems and had confidence that God would take care of the situation. \u00a0Ed always had a joke and Ruth piped in with quips. \u00a0Hey, and Ruth taught me a thing or two as a newbie in Zaire back in 1978. \u00a0She taught me that you can put avocado in with your fruit in jello and it tastes mighty good! \u00a0Really! We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
