{"id":3017,"date":"2015-01-22T18:08:53","date_gmt":"2015-01-22T17:08:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/?p=3017"},"modified":"2015-01-22T18:08:53","modified_gmt":"2015-01-22T17:08:53","slug":"dry-season-keeps-on-but-hope-springs-eternal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/2015\/01\/22\/dry-season-keeps-on-but-hope-springs-eternal\/","title":{"rendered":"Dry.season.keeps.on.but.hope.springs.eternal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re hoping for rain nowadays. \u00a0The fierce cold (for locals anyway) seems to be over with, but the dryness persists.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/blog-harmattan-sunset.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3002\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/blog-harmattan-sunset.jpg\" alt=\"blog harmattan sunset\" width=\"448\" height=\"253\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/blog-harmattan-sunset.jpg 448w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/blog-harmattan-sunset-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a>As I make my treks over the river to visit my Fulani buddies, I have alot of time on the road, looking at the dust and the leaves and flowers and grass and trees that used to be vivid green all covered with red dirt. \u00a0Sometimes I get to feeling like that in my heart and soul. \u00a0Dusty and dry and feeling nothing. \u00a0I published some years back this\u00a0photo of a flower which says it all for me, like the sun in the photo above, shining through in spite of harmattan dust. \u00a0The Lord&#8217;s mercies are new every morning, amen! \u00a0He can bring new hope and new life out of dryness and dust and despair. \u00a0You can almost look straight at the sunset when there&#8217;s enough dust in the air, and you can&#8217;t miss the bright new blossom in the midst of the dirt. \u00a0That is, you can&#8217;t miss it if you&#8217;re looking in the right direction. \u00a0I think you do have to be looking for the hope, or at least be willing and open to be surprised and delighted by\u00a0the hope.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/bright-white-in-dust.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3018\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/bright-white-in-dust.jpg\" alt=\"bright white in dust\" width=\"315\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/bright-white-in-dust.jpg 315w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2015\/01\/bright-white-in-dust-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 315px) 100vw, 315px\" \/><\/a>I recently was delighted by the hope in a Fulani friend&#8217;s face when I brought her friends from Gamboula to visit. \u00a0I was encouraged by another Fulani friend&#8217;s expectation of someday moving back &#8220;home&#8221; to Gamboula. \u00a0Over and over again the Lord brings hopeful things to me in the midst of troubles and dryness, even something so simple as a baby&#8217;s smile or the opportunity to help a child with meds for a badly infected ear, so that I am not overwhelmed. \u00a0He lifts me up and puts my feet upon a solid rock. \u00a0May God bless you with hope today!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth?moderation_action=report_form&object_type=post&object_id=3017&width=250&height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re hoping for rain nowadays. \u00a0The fierce cold (for locals anyway) seems to be over with, but the dryness persists. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
