{"id":2293,"date":"2013-12-17T08:59:38","date_gmt":"2013-12-17T07:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/?p=2293"},"modified":"2014-01-05T11:14:31","modified_gmt":"2014-01-05T10:14:31","slug":"camping-just-an-hour-away","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/2013\/12\/17\/camping-just-an-hour-away\/","title":{"rendered":"Camping just an hour away"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2297\" alt=\"blog camping6\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping6.jpg\" width=\"448\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping6.jpg 448w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping6-300x224.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a>We drove about an hour to an amazing farm\/wilderness property that Sam and Anna had previously visited. \u00a0While Sam bow hunted, the rest of us enjoyed camping and hiking and playing. \u00a0We tossed a frisbee football around and it bounced down a warthog hole (yes, we had warthog homes in our campsite!). \u00a0Just a little while later along came a kind soul to crawl down and retrieve it! \u00a0I was mortified when he went after it when none of us were willing, but he went in with a smile and came out with the ball and an even bigger smile.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping7.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2298\" alt=\"blog camping7\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping7.jpg\" width=\"448\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping7.jpg 448w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping7-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a>As we went about enjoying our stay, we kept hearing shouting, throughout the evening and the next day, and it sounded like someone was calling their dog, possibly named &#8220;Hock!&#8221;. \u00a0Come to find out, it was baboons up on the cliffs above our camp, running around and yelling at each other. \u00a0 Here are a few of them, sitting peacefully together.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2294\" alt=\"blog camping3\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping3.jpg\" width=\"448\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping3.jpg 448w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/danforth\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2013\/12\/blog-camping3-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This is zoomed in, of course, these guys are not anything you&#8217;d want to get too close to.<\/p>\n<p>We had a great time exploring the stream nearby and then hiking up the hillside. \u00a0Roy and Sawyer proved to be the intrepid duo, pretty cute in their hats together &#8211; We live on an experimental\\\/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts. We live on an experimental\/training farm, near a mission station which has a hospital plus bible and nursing schools. We are establishing relationships with the local people groups through compassion ministries; Roy through agriculture and Aleta through public health and visitation, in order, ultimately, to share the good news of Jesus the Messiah with them. CAR is one of the least developed countries in the world and is currently in continual crisis (since the coup in March 2013), so reaching out in compassion is key to reaching their hearts.
