Have you heard for the global day of prayer this Sunday? Micah Challenge<\/a>,\u00a0a great organization fighting poverty and advocating for the\u00a0Millennium\u00a0Development Goals (MDGs), is organizing and promoting a global day of prayer this Sunday. They have wonderful resources on their website<\/a>. Would you consider organizing a time of prayer at your church this Sunday?<\/p>\n

O Lord, our great and awesome God, loyal to your promise of love and faithful to all who honour and obey you, hear our prayer.<\/em><\/p>\n

We pray for those who live in poverty,<\/em><\/p>\n

we cry out for those who are denied justice and<\/em><\/p>\n

we weep for all who are suffering.<\/em><\/p>\n

We confess that we have not always obeyed you.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have neglected your commands and have ignored your call for justice.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have been guided by self-interest and lived in spiritual poverty.<\/em><\/p>\n

Forgive us.<\/em><\/p>\n

We remember your promises to fill the hungry with good things, to redeem the land by your mighty hand and to restore peace.<\/em><\/p>\n

Father God, help us always to proclaim your justice and mercy with humility, so that, by the power of your Spirit, we can rid the world of the sin of extreme poverty.<\/em><\/p>\n

As part of your global church, we stand with millions who praise and worship you.<\/em><\/p>\n

May our words and deeds declare your perfect goodness, love and righteousness to both the powerful and the powerless<\/em><\/p>\n

so that your Kingdom may come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen<\/em><\/p>\n

Join 100 million Christians in prayer and promise for the poor. Micah 2010 is a special campaign to focus on our promise to the poor, ten years after nations around the world committed to\u00a0halve global poverty by 2015<\/a>. As Christians we want to declare God’s heart for the poor and we want to remind our leaders that action to halve poverty is worth every effort. We must remember the poor.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
