{"id":6384,"date":"2014-12-22T05:15:15","date_gmt":"2014-12-22T10:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/?p=6384"},"modified":"2014-12-19T09:17:30","modified_gmt":"2014-12-19T14:17:30","slug":"change-happening-in-haiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/2014\/12\/change-happening-in-haiti\/","title":{"rendered":"Change happening in Haiti"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fond-des-Blancs is a rural town in Haiti that has been agonized by a lack of care and education, unemployment, and natural disasters.\u00a0 Several years ago, CWR was able to partner with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/relief\/projects\/cd\/haiti-path-to-a-better-life\/\">Haiti Christian Development Fund<\/a> and through them help in the transformation of this community.\u00a0 One of the projects developed was a 6-acre pilot farming system, hopefully growing to a 120-acre farm, producing multiple crops yearly.\u00a0 These crops will not only provide nutrition and food security for the community, but the profits created by the sales of the crops will benefit the school\u2019s nutrition programs as well.\u00a0 As of our recent update from the HCDF, the Lhomond Farming project is green and growing well! Good progress in both construction and equipment maintenance for the farm was made over the summer.\u00a0 Prayer is asked for in the safe and timely arrival of more equipment on the way, along with for the farmers that lost crops over the summer due to the late rain.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Another project we are partnering with is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.covchurch.org\/relief\/projects\/special\/kids-helping-kids-haiti\/\">Kids Helping Kids: Haiti<\/a>.\u00a0 In this, we are working with the L\u2019Exode schools in Fond-des-Blancs.\u00a0 The update was excited to announce the success of many students at numerous levels! 42 sixth grade students, more than ever before, were sent to take their government exams, and every student passed and will be moving on to new secondary school!\u00a0 Additionally, for the first time ever, L\u2019Exode sent 16 students to the ninth grade government exams.\u00a0 All of them passed with flying colors!\u00a0 Last, but not least, within the month L\u2019Exode will be welcoming 134 three year olds into their preschool.\u00a0 This will require remodeling of the church, as this is a larger amount than they\u2019ve ever had.<\/p>\n<p>Our partners in Haiti feel blessed by all the Lord is allowing them to do through the students and the farm in Fond-des-Blancs.\u00a0 Prayers are always welcome and appreciated!<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr?moderation_action=report_form&#038;object_type=post&#038;object_id=6384&#038;width=250&#038;height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fond-des-Blancs is a rural town in Haiti that has been agonized by a lack of care and education, unemployment, and natural disasters.\u00a0 Several years ago, CWR was able to partner with the Haiti Christian Development Fund and through them help in the transformation of this community.\u00a0 One of the projects developed was a 6-acre pilot [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[279,282],"tags":[300,474,308,18161],"class_list":["post-6384","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-community-development","category-special-projects","tag-agriculture","tag-children","tag-education","tag-haiti-relief"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
