He has not seen peace\u00a0there in his entire childhood. In 2010, Excellent and his\u00a0family fled because of war. During their journey they\u00a0spent many weeks running from violence and went\u00a0many days without food. Their feet were sore and they\u00a0were weak from lack of food and water. They had to\u00a0be on the watch for soldiers so they didn\u2019t get caught\u00a0in the middle of a battle. They often slept near the\u00a0road that would take them to Kenya. They had no tent\u00a0and there were no places to stay. Sometimes Excellent\u00a0wondered if he and his family would live through the\u00a0long trip. The closer they got to Kenya, the safer it\u00a0seemed, but the more tired they became. Weeks passed.\u00a0Finally, when it seemed Excellent and his family could\u00a0walk no further, some truck drivers helped them travel\u00a0the rest of the way.\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Excellent and his family finally arrived at the refugee\u00a0camp in Kenya. Since that time Excellent and his family\u00a0have moved into a one-room home. Excellent feels\u00a0fortunate. He is still with his parents and sister. But\u00a0many children who have fled the Democratic\u00a0Republic of Congo have lost their parents. Eight of\u00a0these children now live with Excellent and his family\u00a0in their one-room house.<\/p>\n<p>Excellent never expected to have so many brothers\u00a0and sisters. Sometimes it isn\u2019t easy. But he is thankful to\u00a0God that he is away from the fighting and for his new\u00a0brothers and sisters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REFLECTION:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Excellent was in a difficult situation, not because of\u00a0anything he did wrong but because war forced him\u00a0and his family away from their home. We can thank God for them and\u00a0we can pray that some of the children will find their\u00a0parents.
