These refugees\u00a0are mainly from the Nuer, Dinka, Shiluk, and Murlee\u00a0tribes. The fighting has injured many of the refugees.\u00a0They all lack basic needs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STORY:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Exploding bombs from the war in South Sudan left\u00a0three-year-old Gatwech, his five-year-old sister Nyayual,\u00a0and their mother, Mary, seriously injured. Everyone else\u00a0in their family was killed.<\/p>\n<p>United Nations workers took Gatwech, Nyayual, and\u00a0their mother to a UN Mission hospital where they were\u00a0treated for their injuries. Gatwech lost his ear and can\u00a0only see out of one eye. Nyayual is still in shock and is\u00a0deaf because the explosions destroyed her eardrums.\u00a0After partially recovering from their injuries they had no\u00a0home to go back to and decided to travel to Ethiopia.\u00a0Mary, Gatwech, and Nyayual walked for two weeks until\u00a0they arrived at the Ethiopian refugee camp, Tierkitde.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>They were given food rations and are grateful to be in a\u00a0safe place, but it\u2019s hard to be away from home. They are\u00a0sad and miss family members who died. They still do not\u00a0have many things like a health clinic to continue their\u00a0treatments, proper shelter, or counseling services.<\/p>\n<p>Covenant World Relief is working with the Evangelical\u00a0Covenant Church of South Sudan to bring these\u00a0needed supplies and services to Tierkitde.<\/p>\n<p><strong>REFLECTION:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What are you concerned about after listening to this\u00a0story?
