The\u00a0leaders of Ministering to the Abused and Exploited in\u00a0Mexico (MAEM) include Marisol Martinez, president of the\u00a0Covenant Church of Mexico, Covenant missionary Janice\u00a0Kelly, and ten other women and men ranging in age from\u00a0young adults to retirees.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-6311\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/12\/MAEM_logotipo-1-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"MAEM_logotipo-1\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/12\/MAEM_logotipo-1-231x300.jpg 231w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/12\/MAEM_logotipo-1.jpg 672w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/>In its early stage MAEM is focusing on:<br \/>\n\u2022 raising awareness of domestic abuse and violence and\u00a0their connection to human trafficking;<br \/>\n\u2022 providing relevant resources to pastors and other leaders;<br \/>\n\u2022 equipping pastors and other leaders to respond to instances of exploitation and abuse in\u00a0their churches and communities;<br \/>\n\u2022 helping individuals and families heal from abuse;<br \/>\n\u2022 and equipping pastors and leaders to train others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nAccording to Janice Kelly, those being trained are \u201creceiving biblical instruction that\u00a0teaches that God\u2019s image lies at the core of what it means to be human and that abuse is a\u00a0perversion of the image of God.\u201d CWR is grateful to be able to partner with MAEM as they carry\u00a0out this vital ministry.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-report-this\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr?moderation_action=report_form&#038;object_type=post&#038;object_id=6310&#038;width=250&#038;height=300\" class=\"thickbox\" title=\"Report This Post\">Report This Post<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A group of leaders from the Covenant Church of Mexico have\u00a0formed an organization to fight abuse and exploitation.
