{"id":6283,"date":"2014-11-24T14:50:48","date_gmt":"2014-11-24T19:50:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/?p=6283"},"modified":"2014-11-24T14:50:48","modified_gmt":"2014-11-24T19:50:48","slug":"healthcare-in-the-midst-of-conflict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/2014\/11\/healthcare-in-the-midst-of-conflict\/","title":{"rendered":"Healthcare in the midst of conflict"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6284\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/Ta-Mae-Kee-Clinic-Staff-300x224.png\" alt=\"Ta Mae Kee Clinic Staff\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/Ta-Mae-Kee-Clinic-Staff-300x224.png 300w, http:\/\/blogs.covchurch.org\/cwr\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2014\/11\/Ta-Mae-Kee-Clinic-Staff.png 624w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Despite the ongoing process striving towards peace in the country of Burma, or Myanmar, the last two months have constituted of increased strife between government soldiers and the ethnic groups in Kachin, Shan, Mon, and Karen States.\u00a0 In Karen alone, government officials have been defying boundaries set by peace negotiations, and have open fired on Karen Security guards numerous times.\u00a0 A meeting was held by the Karen National Union recently in hopes of finding a way to keep this process of peace from breaking down.<\/p>\n<p>Through all this, Covenant World Relief continues to partner with Partners Relief and Development to provide medical clinics within Burma.\u00a0 In the latest update, the clinics reported that medically, all is going well- a breath of fresh air among the turmoil.<!--more-->\u00a0\u00a0 A combined total of about 1,000 cases are seen among the three clinics, as no other groups or NGO\u2019s are allowed to work in the conflict zones.\u00a0 Though there is a great deal of good work being done by these clinics, the cross-border support is decreasing, as cross-certification training programs have been limited\u00a0 in the area of reproductive health education and Auxiliary Midwives.
