The devastation in the Philippines has been catastrophic and the road to recovery has been long. CWR partner Medical Teams International (MTI) sent 14 medical teams of 60 medical professionals to the surrounding villages of Tacloban, Philippines. They joined with a local hospital and assisted them in there disaster response plan.<\/p>\n

Over 20,000 patients were seen by the MTI volunteers, but the most important has been the partnership with the hospital, RTR Hospital. It was the only hospital that remained open immediately after the typhoon landed and the staff has been working hard to provide desperately needed medical care to over 300 communities surrounding Tacloban City.<\/p>\n

As the MTI volunteers were leaving, one of them had this story to share:<\/p>\n

I handed my boarding pass and passport to the immigration officer, I was amazed. She read the boarding pass and immediately stamped my passport. She then stood up, and with her hands in a prayer-like fold up to her face, she bowed and said, \u201cThank you for coming.\u201d I was deeply moved. I know that she wasn\u2019t only thanking me; she was thanking all those who made it possible for Medical Teams International to be in the Philippines\u2026 she was thanking Covenant World Relief<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n

There is still much work to be done and prayers needed for those most greatly affected by the typhoon. Thank you for your continued support of relief and community development work in the Philippines.<\/p>\n
